Apr 22, 2023(April 19) Ex-Norfolk Church Youth Group Leader Sentenced For Sexual Abuse Of A Minor | Norfolk, VA
A Norfolk man was sentenced Wednesday to seven years in prison for traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a minor, according to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Charles Willoughby III, 39, was a youth group leader at New Life Worship Center in Norfolk.
According to court documents, from 2006 to 2012, Willoughby routinely groomed minor teenage girls who were part of the church’s youth program in an attempt to sexually abuse them.

(April 19) Five TN Pastors Indicted After Using Church Wi-Fi to Upload Child Sex Abuse Material | Franklin, TN
The former pastor of a Tennessee church has been indicted on sexual exploitation charges, after police investigators found he uploaded child sex abuse material to the internet from his church office.
According to court documents, Daryl Hayes, 50, of Franklin, Tennessee, was indicted on April 10, on six counts of sexual exploitation of a minor. Hayes, formerly lead pastor of Berry’s Chapel Church of Christ near Nashville, was arrested Tuesday by local authorities. According to public information officer Sergeant Becky Coyle, he bonded out of Williamson County Jail the same day, paying $50,000 in fees.

The defrocked Roman Catholic cardinal who became the face of the church’s clergy sex abuse crisis has been charged in Wisconsin with sexually assaulting an 18-year-old man more than 45 years ago, court records show.
A criminal complaint filed Friday alleges that Theodore McCarrick, who was removed from the priesthood in 2019 after a Vatican investigation found he had sexually molested adults and children, fondled a man in 1977 while staying at a cabin on Geneva Lake in southeastern Wisconsin.

(April 14) Church Music Teacher In Colorado Arrested For Repeatedly Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old Boy | CO
A 58-year-old church music teacher and former school bus driver in Colorado was arrested for the alleged sexual abuse a 14-year-old boy.
Robert Henry Gordon was taken into custody Thursday and charged with one count each of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust, sexual assault on a child, unlawful sexual contact, and enticement of a child, authorities announced.
