Aug 06, 2023(August 04) 35-Year-Old Former Church Youth Leader Charged With Sexually Assaulting Child | Kings Mountain, NC
Amanda Buchanan Justice, 35, of Kings Mountain, was charged with sexually assaulting a child, police said.
She turned herself into the Kings Mountain Police Department on Thursday.
Suspect physically, sexually assaulted victim in south Charlotte
Officers said they received a report of sexual assault on a minor on July 28.
Kings Mountain detectives said they interviewed the alleged victim as part of the investigation before Justice’s arrest.
Justice’s husband told Channel 9′s Erika Jackson that his wife told police about the alleged sex crimes last week, so Thursday’s arrest was not a surprise.

(August 01) Man Accused Of Sexually Assaulting Children At Grand Island Church | Lincoln, NE
A man is facing felony charges in the sexual assault of two children at a church in Grand Island.
Milton Castanon Jr., 23, was charged Monday with two counts of first-degree sexual assault and two counts of third-degree sexual assault.
On July 25, a parent of the victims reported the sexual assaults to the Grand Island Police Department, according to an arrest affidavit.
The sexual assaults happened in 2018 at a Grand Island church, court documents allege.

(July 30) Syracuse, NY Catholic Diocese To Pay Sex Abuse Survivors $100 Million | Syracuse, NY
The Syracuse, New York Catholic diocese has reached a $100 million settlement with survivors of sexual abuse by clergy, religious women, lay employees and volunteers, according to Syracuse Nexstar station WSYR.
The diocese filed for bankruptcy in June of 2020, and the settlement is part of the bankruptcy case. It’s expected to be a first step toward the diocese developing a plan to emerge from Chapter 11 status.

(July 29) Former Central PA. Lawyer, Church Bishop, Scout Leader Charged With Sexually Abusing 12-Year-Old | PA
A former bishop with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, boy scout leader and lawyer from central Pennsylvania is facing several charges including the rape of a person less than 13 years old.
Pennsylvania State Police say Shawn Gooden sexually abused a 12-year-old while on a camping trip in Pennsylvania with the victim and the victim’s brother in 2000.

(July 28) Geauga County Pastor Sentenced To 2 Years In Prison For Sexually Abusing His Daughters | Chardon, OH
A Thompson Township pastor was sentenced to two years in prison Friday morning for sexually abusing his daughters.
Dennis Laferty plead guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of sexual imposition June 22.
Laferty, 37, was indicted following an investigation by detectives into allegations of sexual abuse involving minors between Nov. 30 2019 and Jan. 30.
Laferty was the pastor at the Thompson United Methodist Church. The church now has a new name and pastor.
