A man who held a leadership position in a Ketchikan church is facing 14 felony charges of sexual abuse of a minor. The man admitted his behavior to law enforcement.
Dwight Chris John, 71, of Ketchikan is charged with first, second, and third-degree sexual abuse of a minor and incest. He faces 14 felony counts of sexual abuse of a minor, plus three incest charges.
Alaska State Troopers say John sexually abused a young family member when he visited the child’s community on Prince of Wales Island, or when the child came to visit him in Ketchikan.

(June 7) Former Loudoun Co. Priest Sentenced To 8 Years For Sexual Abuse Of Minor | Purcellville, VA
A former Loudoun County priest has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually abusing a minor nearly 40 years ago.
On Tuesday, Virginia’s Attorney General Jason Miyares announced Scott Asalone, a former priest at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church in Purcellville, has been sentenced to prison on a charge of felony carnal knowledge of a minor.
“Today’s sentencing brings long, overdue justice to the brave victim who came forward and told their story. My office will continue to aggressively prosecute child offenders and I encourage anyone who has been a victim of clergy abuse to contact the Virginia State Police or local law enforcement,” said Miyares in a statement.

(June 6) S.C. Youth Pastor Accused Of Filming Girls In Church Shower: 'Incident Of Moral Misconduct' | Columbia, SC
A former South Carolina youth pastor was arrested and charged last week on accusations he videotaped at least six different women and girls while they showered, some as young as 14 years old.
The 35-year-old pastor, Daniel Kellan Mayfield, is charged with five counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor and one count of voyeurism. The alleged incidents date back to July 2022, according to local WCSC. Mayfield was denied bond.

(June 6) Minister With Outsized Influence In Assemblies Of God’s Chi Alpha Ministry Arrested For Abusing Boys | Waco, TX
Daniel Savala, a 67-year-old itinerant minister and a convicted sex offender with outsized influence in the Chi Alpha Campus Ministries sponsored by the Assemblies of God, was arrested last Friday on charges that he sexually abused two boys in Waco, Texas.
Whistleblowers allege he was allowed by some ministry leaders to prey on young men and boys for years.
Chi Alpha is a campus ministry located on around 300 campuses globally with the support of the Assemblies of God, the largest Pentecostal denomination in the United States.

A youth pastor in South Carolina has been accused of filming girls in the bathroom at a church in South Carolina.
According to multiple news reports, 35-year-old ex-pastor Daniel Kellan Mayfield (pictured in his mugshot, above) has been charged with five counts of first degree sexual exploitation of a minor. He has also been charged with one count of voyeurism after being identified as an alleged suspect in a separate incident.
