A north Columbus church is scrambling to replace expensive lawn equipment weeks after a suspected crook drove away with the loot.
"I can't imagine the nerve of somebody doing this," said Senior Pastor Brian Dahlke with Capitol City Baptist Church. "But doing it to a church, doing it on a Sunday, doing it in broad daylight."
Church security cameras captured a man driving in a red pickup truck up to the Sunbury Road church on Sunday, May 28.

(June 8) Deputies Investigating Burglary At Georgetown County Church | SC
Georgetown County authorities are investigating the theft of lawn maintenance equipment from a church on Academy Avenue.
Deputies have asked for the community’s help in identifying a man accused of stealing the items from the Victory Christian Fellowship church. The break-in and theft happened at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
The stolen items included a Husqvarna string trimmer and a Poulan leaf blower.

(June 8) Man Arrested For Reportedly Breaking Into Churches, Stealing Robes | Columbus, MS
A man wearing a church robe and claiming to be Jesus was accused of breaking into two churches.
27-year-old Deshon O’Neal was charged with two counts of burglary and one count of disorderly conduct.
Columbus police said officers were called to a hotel about a suspicious man on June 6.
O’Neal was reportedly wearing a white robe with several others on a fence behind him. CPD said O’Neal admitted to stealing the robes. He then allegedly told officers his name was Jesus and he broke into the churches for religious reasons.

(June 7) Thieves Caught On Camera Stealing Church’s Flower Pots | Birmingham, AL
A local church is a little less colorful on Monday night after its flowerpots were stolen. They cost $100, but the pastor said it’s about more than just the cost.
The parking lot at Solomon’s Temple Faith Church near Birmingham Southern College is short four flowerpots after they were stolen on camera.
The pots have been there for nearly eight years, and Pastor CW Clay said he is questioning what kind of person would steal from God.

(June 6) Police Investigating Embezzlement At Hickory Church | Hickory, NC
Police in Hickory tell Channel 9 an investigation is underway after nearly $200,000 was reported missing from a local church.
According to the Hickory Police Department, investigators got a tip that $180,000 was missing from Highland Baptist Church.
No arrests have been made yet, and the church hasn’t publicly commented about the missing funds.
