Jul 15, 2023(July 13) Over 100 Years Up In Flames After Fire At Historic Kansas City Church | Kansas City, MO
Firefighters are investigating a fire that broke out at a Kansas City, Missouri, church.
The Mount Christian Worship Center at the corner of 36th Street and Wabash Avenue caught fire at around 5:40 a.m. Wednesday morning. Firefighters say no one was inside at the time, and no firefighters were injured.
When KMBC 9 crews arrived on the scene, flames could be seen shooting out of the building.
The worship center's pastor, Rev. Willie Thornton, says the building is likely a total loss. The building is historic, built in 1908.

(July 10) Man Arrested For Hate Crime After Video Allegedly Shows Him Knocking Over Church Statue In Buffalo | NY
A Buffalo man is being charged with a hate crime after police say he knocked over a statue of Mary outside a North Buffalo church.
Video of the attack was released last month. It shows a suspect knocking over the statue at St. Rose of Lima Church on Parker Avenue.
Sunday night, police announced the arrest of 40-year-old Michael Manns. He is charged with Criminal Mischief designated as a Hate Crime.

(July 10) Late-Night Fire Damages Church On City’s East Side; No Injuries Reported | San Antonio, TX
San Antonio fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a fire at a church on the city’s East Side late Sunday night.
The fire was called in around 11 p.m. at the Christ Redeeming Community Church in the 780 block of G Street, not far from Highway 90 and Pecan Valley Drive.
Firefighters said they arrived to find both smoke and fire showing on the backside of the building. They got a fairly quick knockdown of the fire. Firefighters are now trying to blow the smoke out from the back of the building.

(July 10) Arson Suspect Arrested For Setting Fires At Ocala Church | Ocala, FL
A man was taken into custody on Wednesday after being accused of intentionally starting fires at an Ocala church and a residential property's laundry machine.
The suspect, identified as 43-year-old Rodney Ferguson, was observed approaching Isom Memorial Church on 1320 SW 4th St. at approximately 1 a.m. on Wednesday, according to law enforcement officials.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing Ferguson ignite the front door of the church before proceeding to SW Martin Luther King Ave.
There, he allegedly set fire to a laundry machine located on a covered patio behind a residence, as per the police department's statement.

(July 8) Man Taken Into Custody After Allegedly Vandalizing Statue Outside Brooklyn Church | Brooklyn, NY
A man was taken into custody after allegedly vandalizing a statue outside a Brooklyn church.
It happened late Saturday morning at Resurrection Church in Gerritsen Beach.
A white marble statue of the Virgin Mary was covered with black spray paint, including what appears to be the word "fake."
Police say the suspect was taken to a local hospital for a medical evaluation.
