Jun 10, 2023(June 9) Woman Convicted For 2021 Arson Of Historic First Baptist Church Montgomery | Montgomery, AL
A woman arrested and charged with setting multiple fires that caused extensive damage to historic First Baptist Church Montgomery in 2021 has been convicted by a federal jury, according to U.S. Attorney Sandra J. Stewart’s office.
Xiaoqin Yan, a 29-year-old Chinese national, was found guilty of committing arson and possessing a firearm by an illegal alien on Wednesday. She faces up to 20 years in federal prison when sentencing is handed down in the coming months.

(June 8) ‘It’s Meant To Be Intimidating And Hateful’: Jamaica Plain Church Hit With Anti-Gay Graffiti | Boston, MA
A Jamaica Plain church that prides itself on welcoming the LGBTQ community was defaced with anti-gay graffiti early Thursday, the pastor said.
The graffiti, which included anti-gay slurs and the phrase “God does not love you,” was sprayed across the base of the steeple area of First Baptist Church on Centre Street, said Rev. Ashlee Wiest-Laird.
“It’s obviously meant to be intimidating,” Wiest-Laird said. “It’s meant to be intimidating and hateful.”

(June 7) Fire Damages Old Church Building In Soulard | St. Louis, MO
An old church building in Soulard burned late Tuesday night. The two-alarm fire was reported about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday near Allen Avenue and South 13th Street.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, but Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson told KTVI that the building was being used as an arts center and workers may have had an issue with some chemicals.
The building at 1222 Allen Avenue had once been home in the early 1900s to St. Paul’s-Friedens Evangelical Church, according to the St. Louis Genealogical Society. It has housed several churches over the years.

(June 7) Car Barrels Into Baptist Church During Sunday Service In Maryland | Prince Frederick, MD
Investigators said a crew accidentally started a fire while working at a church in West Dallas.
It happened just before 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Dallas Indian Revival Center just off Hampton Road, north of Interstate 30.
There were already heavy flames by the time Dallas Fire-Rescue arrived. Part of the roof collapsed afterward.
