Belfast is known for many things, its beauty is at or near the top of that list.
Which is why members of the First Baptist Church in Belfast were saddened with what they discovered a week ago.
“Amy, our church secretary, called me and said there was graffiti on the dumpster and the pavement,” said Cathy Holland, the trustee’s chairman for First Baptist Church Belfast.
The dumpster was purchased only a few weeks ago which makes it more frustrating.

(November 01) Issue 1 Signs Damaged, Stolen From Multiple Southwest Ohio Churches, Archdiocese Says | Cincinnati, OH
The Archdiocese of Cincinnati says they are seeing some political signs, specifically those against Issue 1, vandalized or even stolen from church properties around Southwest Ohio.
Election Day is just one week away.
Among the largely divisive topics for voters is Issue 1.
“I do agree with you that this is a topic, as you noted, can be divisive for some parties, divisive for some individuals,” said the Archdiocese of Cincinnati’s Director of Media Relations Jennifer Schack. “We’re aware of the stance that some people have concerns about the church being so vocal and making such a strong voice out there for the situation.”

(October 29) Two People Cited After Car Crashes Into Mesa Church | Mesa, AZ.
It was a shocking sight for some arriving at a church in Mesa Sunday morning after a car crashed into the building overnight.
The collision happened overnight in Mesa on Stapley Drive and Main Street.
Police say a person inside the vehicle was taken to the hospital, but no one inside was injured.
Despite the damage, the church service still went off without a hitch this morning.

(October 27) Unabated Attacks On Catholic Churches | East Bridgewater, MA
Earlier this month in the town of East Bridgewater, Massachusetts – not far from where the Pilgrims landed at Plymouth to establish a new way of life free from religious persecution – two twelve-year-olds walked into a Catholic church after school and set a Bible on fire on the altar.
Initial reports suggested police would not prosecute the minors, but they apparently found enough evidence of malicious intent to charge them in juvenile court.
Normally an incident like this would be little more than a local crime story attributable to bad behavior. But this act of hatred by two children was the 200th such act of violence and vandalism against a Catholic church in the United States since the leak of the Supreme Court's Dobbs decision on May 2, 2022.
